This week I had the opportunity to review the Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery Tool.
The background for this is, that in any Exchange Organization it can come to corrupt EDB files. There are many ways and tolls how we can handle them. I tried the tool from Stellar and my experience with it was good. It is easy to handle, which is important when we need it.
The functional tests I made with it, I want to describe here in this article:
After starting the tool, I got asked to select an EDB File. For this, I have two options:
- If I know the path I, simply browse to it.
- I can try to discover and find the right EDB File.
After I have chosen the EDB file I need to work with, I get asked the type of scan Stellar should do for me. Here we need to know: If we simply need to work on a corrupted EDB file, a quick scan is enough. For extremely injured EDB Files, we have the option “Extensive Scan”.
In my test case the EDB File was badly corrupted, so I used the “Extensive Scan”. As you can see, all of the mail boxes in the EDB file where successfully listed up.
Now, I’m able to browse through the mail boxes and here I am able to find the right Item for restoring:
What I really like here is, that I am able to create exports from single Items or from the whole mail box. To do that, I simply need to do a right click on the element I want to restore and then I am also able to choose the format I want to use:
In my scenario, I choose the option PST. After that, I got asked where I want to save the File and then the progress starts.
As you can see, the PST export from the EDB file was easy, fast and successfully!
To verify if the exported PST file is working fine, I use other tools to have a look on it.
However, as we can see, everything looks fine and we have a working copy of our files.
SUMMARY:
“Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery” is a very stable and useful tool for Exchange admins who need to be able to recover single Items and mail boxes from a corrupted EDB file. I have worked in the IT for many years and I saw many tools which supposed to help the engineers in their daily work. Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is quickly installed, it doesn’t need much space and it is very easy to handle. It works in a intuitive way and the number of options for saving data makes it seriously worth to work with it. I personally will definitely keep it as a tool with which I will work in the future!
What I also like is that we are able to download the Software for free on https://www.stellarinfo.com/edb-exchange-server-recovery.htm and test it. It is pretty simple and powerful and worth to have an eye on it.
